Corks first Tesco Express Store opened today creating 18 new jobs.
The supermarket chain unveiled their newest store at Dennehys Cross where managers presented the Paediatrics Department at Cork University Hospital with a €1,000.00 donation from Tesco Ireland to mark the occasion.
Store Manager Elaine McHugh and Helen Cahalane from Cork University Hospital's Paediatric Department were on hand to officially cut the ribbon on the new store.
Tesco currently operates eight supermarkets in Cork but has now opened its first convenience-type facility as part of a new development in Orchard Gardens at Dennehys Cross.
Speaking at the opening, Elaine McHugh said "We are delighted to be opening Cork's first Tesco Express store in Dennehy's Cross and the new store has all the benefits of a larger Tesco store located right on your doorstep."
The express store is located less than half a mile from one of Tesco's biggest stores in Ireland at the Wilton Shopping Centre.
It forms part of a 2.5 acre development at the former garage and pub site being redeveloped by Frinailla.
